Phillip Alfus began his hotel career in 1971. He has held property and Corporate Vice President level positions in Food & Beverage, Rooms, Operations and Sales and Marketing.

An executive search consultant since 1983, Mr. Alfus has clients located across the globe and he has conducted searches for senior level positions in all of the hospitality disciplines.

Mr. Alfus has been a member of: The American Hotel & Motel Association, Meeting Planners International, La Chaine des Rotisseurs, The Hotel Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and The American Society of Association Executives. He is currently writing a series of articles for Hotel & Motel Management and lectures on numerous human resource topics for: The American Hotel & Motel Association, the Educational Institute and New York University. Recently, Mr. Alfus was elected a member of the Board of Trustees of New York University's School for Hospitality, Tourism and Travel Administration and is part of the faculty of HSMAI's University program. Amy S. Falbaum has extensive experience in the restaurant-hospitality Industry. As a recruiter she brings a working understanding of the Food and Beverage discipline to the searches she has successfully executed. Her experience includes having been; the Executive Sous Chef for the world-famous 21 Club, Management positions at the acclaimed Grammercy Tavern, the upscale American Renaissance, Sarabeth's Kitchen and other diverse environments such as Birdland, Copacabana and Legends Restaurant. Ms Falbaum was also responsible for helping launch two restaurants for The Disney Corp. in Florida's Celebration City.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre and minor in communication from Hunter College and graduated with a degree in occupational studies from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She also attended Michigan State University.

Jackie Nixon Jackie Nixon brings 25 years of Human Resources experience to The Alfus Group specializing in recruitment, training, benefits, compensation plans, and employee and labor relations. She has been actively involved in union negotiations and contract interpretations in both San Francisco and New York.

Ms. Nixon began her career in San Francisco serving as Director of Human Resources for several hotels prior to coming to New York City to open The Crowne Plaza Hotel on Broadway. Ms. Nixon also has extensive experience working for both Ritz-Carlton and The Four Seasons hotels in New York City.

Aside from her extensive career in Hotel Management, Ms. Nixon brings 6 years of Club Fitness experience as the Vice President of Human Resources for The Sports Club/LA, where she played an integral role in the recruitment and staffing of seven new Clubs, and was the General Manager of Reebok Sports Club/NY.

She has lectured on Labor Relations, Reducing Employee Turnover through better Employee Selection, and Reducing Worker's Compensation Claims Through the writing of Proper Job Descriptions. She has been a member of SHRM, ASTD, The N.Y.Hotel Association.

Thomas Elbe, a native New Yorker, graduated with a degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Upon returning the New York, Tom began his career in hotel operations, later concentrating in Sales and Marketing.

During his extensive career, Mr. Elbe has worked for both deluxe corporate hotels and large convention properties. For over 10 years, he has held various Divisional Vice President positions for major international hospitality companies. During this time he was instrumental in setting operational policy and procedures, sales and marketing goals and objectives, and associated financial accountability.

Mr. Elbe has been a member of Meeting Planners International, The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International, and The American Society of Association Executives. He has served as President of the Big Apple Chapter of HSMA, and a Board Member of the New York Chapter of MPI. Mr. Elbe is also a member of the Advisory Commission at New York City Technical College-Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management, as well as an adjunct Professor. Mr. Elbe has been a guest speaker at many industry events, and has acted as chair, of numerous committees. BACK TO TOP

Susan Wilner was born in the metropolitan area and raised in Israel. Upon completion of her military service Ms. Wilner moved to Europe for a year and then returned to the United States to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management.

Over the course of a ten-year period Ms. Wilner worked with major chain hotels and independents, gaining experience in Food and Beverage as well as Rooms Division.

Ms. Wilner has been teaching in New York University's Hospitality Management program for the past seven years. She is the core instructor developing new and innovative curriculum for the advancement of hospitality professionals.

Since joining The Alfus Group, Inc. as a Director in 1994, she has successfully conducted searches for positions such as: Vice President of Development, Chief Information Officers, Regional and Area Managers as well as General Managers of Luxury Hotels, Restaurants, Hospitality and Financial Consultants and senior on property department heads, with a special expertise in Operations, MIS and Rooms. Paula Caracappa brings 20 years of human resources, recruiting and training expertise to The Alfus Group, Inc. She assists in providing management consultancy services to companies in the identification, screening and evaluation of senior level executives in the hospitality industry.

Ms. Caracappa was born and raised in Boston, educated at Boston University's School of Public Communications. Her career has been focused on luxury goods and premiere dining establishments, including having been the Director of Human Resources at the Russian Tea Room and The '21' Club.

In her role as Director, Ms. Caracappa has designed and implemented sales, service and communication programs. She has also had experience in design and negotiation of compensation packages. In addition, she has functioned as an advisor and consultant for other human resource professionals, including serving as Chairperson of the Human Resource Council for repeated terms.

Ms. Caracappa has participated in the pre-opening and opening of several establishments directing the recruitment and training of hundreds of high quality employees, at both the hourly and managerial levels.

Ms. Caracappa specializes in senior level searches in all areas of hospitality, including hotels, clubs, restaurants and design firms.

Thomas J. Reilly is a Certified Fraud Examiner with more than twenty-eight years of public and private sector experience directing and conducting complex and civil criminal investigations.

From March 1991 through 1997, Mr. Reilly was a Vice President and Managing Director of Decision Strategies International, the world's largest independent consultant firm for investigative services.

Prior to co-founding Decisions Strategies International, Mr. Reilly, from 1984 through February 1991, operated a private investigative firm specializing in financial and corporate due diligence investigations, fraud elimination, and asset recovery.

In the public sector. From 1971 through 1983, Mr. Reilly served as a U.S. Postal Inspector responsible for investigating white collar business fraud, securities fraud, organized crime, narcotics trafficking, and official corruption.

Mr. Reilly is a 1971 graduate of the University of Vermont (B.A. Political Science) and a 1978 graduate of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice (M.A. Criminal Justice). He is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, National Law Enforcement Associates, the American Society for Industrial Security, Intelnet, and the Society of Professional Investigators.
