[NYC] Hotel on Rivington: Sales Manager

The Lower East Side breathes a sigh of relief from the chaos that is midtown Manhattan. New York’s past and present intertwine and come alive, in this historic district neighboring SoHo. Turn of the century tenements and antique shops stand with sleek art houses and farm-to-table cuisine. Fresh faced bands play 100-year-old venues; a blend of old and new world that defines the LES. And at the heart of it all lies the Hotel on Rivington, a modern glass house in a sea of brick and brownstone.

Spacious suites with stellar views are a hallmark of this boutique hotel. The glass design offers a unique panorama with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city.

With an endless array of options to choose from, exploring the area can be a bit overwhelming. Luckily, Hotel Rivington’s concierge, Adam, designs themed itineraries for guests to peruse. Simple suggestions, complete with a map, offer tailored outings like the “Downtown Artsperience”or a casual “Sunday Stroll”.

The new and improved CO-OP Food & Drink is a playful mix of Eastern and Western cuisine. This American Brasserie & Sushi Bar offers small plates to share, from Truffle Mac & Cheese to Spicy Tuna Rolls. Great for large parties, the aesthetic was inspired by vintage 1970’s California — comfortable and relaxed, with effortless style.

The Alfus Group is happy to expand Hotel on Rivington’s team, placing a Sales Manager in May, 2012. Their unpretentious culture, and shrewd awareness of new trends, makes Hotel on Rivington a solid destination for lovers of New York’s Lower East Side.

[NYC] Lincoln Ristorante: Director of Private Dining & Events

A Manhattan mainstay on the Upper West Side, Lincoln Center sets the stage for internationally acclaimed performers and prodigies. The perfect complement to this array of art forms lies just off stage-left, a culinary companion. Encased in glass, the Louvre-esque Lincoln Ristorante beacons art patrons to join them for a meal.

Executive Chef Jonathan Benno (awarded “The World Ambassador of White Truffles of Alba” last year [1] ), puts a modern spin on Italian classics. “My mission is to translate traditional pan-Italian recipes for today’s New York,” Chef Benno tells IN New York Magazine [2] . The reginette verdi al ragú Bolognese, for instance, features ruffled green pasta. “Reginette verdi is not only fun, it’s the perfect vehicle for a ragú,” he says, adding “a bit of chicken liver to the usual pork and beef, for a wonderfully meaty taste.”

The Alfus Group partnered with Patina Restaurant Group to place Lincoln’s Director of Private Dining & Events in December, 2012. Lincoln Ristorante is a culinary staple of New York City, in the heart of a cultural epicenter. Their doors are open daily for lunch, pre-theater, dinner and weekend brunch.

[NYC] Friars Club: Director of Banquets

Dapper gentlemen with classic one-liners bring bawdy hilarity to a black-tie setting. Legendary roasts of the Hollywood elite have made headlines at the Friars Club for over a century.

Built in 1909, this historic venue combines vintage charm with modern luxury. Every event is a timeless and elegant affair, every room an homage to an American icon.

Membership marks a show business milestone. Vibrant young talent are inducted each year, joining the ranks of A-list entertainers. Prominent members include Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ed Sullivan, Johnny Carson, Lucille Ball, Billy Crystal, Rob Reiner, and Richard Pryor, just to name a very scant few.

An all-male club for many years, the Friars evolved with the times and welcomed Liza Minelli as their first female member in 1988. Of course, this didn’t stop other women from joining in on the fun. At her husband Humphrey Bogart’s roast in ’55, Lauren Bacall sent along a tape to play for the boys:  “This is Lauren Bacall, the uninvited guest, you rat bastards.” Phyllis Diller went so far as to dress like a man, sneaking into Sid Caesar’s 1983 roast. She came clean afterward, tongue firmly in cheek, admitting, “It was the funniest and dirtiest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”  [1]

While the hallways erupt with raucous laughter, the Friars Foundation is focused on charity. Since its inception, the foundation has granted hundreds of scholarships to performing arts students; Many of these kids have since found success on Broadway and on the silver screen. Every year, a holiday raffle is also held to benefit the Sunshine Committee. This group offers entertainment and companionship to senior citizens and children’s centers all over New York.

The Alfus Group is proud to work with the Friars Club team, placing their Director of Banquets in November, 2012. Always prestigious, never pretentious, their events are unparalleled — and unforgettable.
